Creating the grounds for success*

In a project jointly funded between Wyndham City, Sports & Recreation Victoria (Department of Planning & Community Development), the AFL, Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria…..TEAM Sports has delivered Australia’s first AFL/CA synthetic football field as part of the Point Cook Road Reserve Master Plan, which includes plans for:

  • three AFL football and cricket ovals, including the synthetic oval
  • eight tennis courts, with the provision for future expansion
  • three soccer fields
  • passive recreational facilities such as shared trails including work out stations, shelters and barbecue amenities and
  • associated facilities such as pavilions and car parking.

TEAM Sports (TEAM) is wholly Australian Owned and our manufacturing facility in Sydney is known for its innovative and technical advances in synthetic turf products. On 4th October 2011 FIFA announced TEAM Sports as a FIFA PREFERRED PRODUCER confirming TEAM’s position at the forefront in the production of quality football turf systems.

The Enviroturf II system installed at Point Cook, Victoria has been developed to meet AFL and Cricket Australia standards and address the challenges presented by climate change and drought. The oval not only reduces water consumption but provides water harvesting and recycling opportunities whilst replicating as closely as possible the playing characteristics of natural turf and provides the highest level of safety and comfort for players.

Work on the $2.4 Mil synthetic turf oval is now complete and the response from Wyndham City’s sporting community has been overwhelming.
