Double Award for Clare and Gilbert Valleys Lifestyle Centre

The Valleys Lifestyle Centre operated by Clare and Gilbert Valleys Council took out two awards when it won ‘Aquatic Facility Of The Year’ and ‘Lifeguard Of The Year.’

The awards were given out at the State Conference for the Local and National Aquatics Industry.

At the conference there were local and national guest speakers covering a variety of topics, including water safety, pool legislation and health, best practice facility design management and marketing ideas.

The Valleys Lifestyle Centre was awarded with ‘Aquatic Facility Of The Year’ for excellence in infrastructure, environmental efficiency, financial viability, innovative programming, HR and risk management.

Recreation South Australia CEO Ian Dewey said the Valleys Lifestyle Centre is a valuable asset to the community of Clare.

Joanne Smith from the Valleys Lifestyle Centre was awarded with the honour of Lifeguard Of The Year.

Manager Andrew Waters said she puts in countless hours of volunteer work, she is an educator and role model for staff and her community.

"Joanne is a highly experienced and industry leader who is a mentor for young lifeguards."

"She provides guidance and leadership for other lifeguards and she is passionate about safety and the overall experience of swimmers at The Valleys Lifestyle Centre."
