National Yearof Reading

Libraries have launched their campaign for the National Year of Reading, with the aim of encouraging children to read more in 2012

Librarians throughout Australia play a key role in inspiring children to love books and learn to read.

Kerrie Day conducts storytime at Castle Hill Library in The Hills Shire, New South Wales.

The Hills Shire Mayor Greg Burnett says it is “a worrying statistic that nearly half the Australian population can’t read with any level of fluency. “This campaign is aiming to turn our country into a nation of readers.”
