Manufacturing gets a head start

It’s no secret that the Australian manufacturing industry is in crisis and requires a concerted effort from all levels of government to recover some of its former glory.

The City of Ballarat has taken this imperative seriously, joining forces with the University of Ballarat and industry representatives, with funding assistance from federal and state governments, to provide local manufacturing businesses with the essential tools to grow and prosper.

The result is the unique ‘Strategic Management for Profitable Growth’ program, which will provide the critical information manufacturing businesses need to survive and thrive. City of Ballarat Mayor, Councillor Mark Harris said the program offers an exciting opportunity for Ballarat manufacturers, “This is their chance to increase their business knowledge, create connections within the industry and to find out more about the additional programs and/or funding available that will ensure their business remains competitive.”

The program provides one-on-one mentoring, seminars from leading national and international experts and on-site visits, and will be tailored to suit the individual needs of the participants businesses. As Cr Mark Harris says, “The program comes at a good time given the current challenges facing manufacturing in Ballarat.”
