The City of Perth has just made life a whole lot easier for residents, visitors and commuters with an Australian first — a mobile phone application and website that advises of parking availability in the City’s car parks.
The parking app allows drivers to find out real time information about bay availability, special parking rates and permit parking spaces via their mobile phones, saving time and stress and relieving congestion in car parks. Drivers can also access information on the number of bays in a car park, height clearances and can get directions to the nearest available parking spaces.
Two further features of the app are ‘Find my Car’ and the ‘Parking Meter Countdown’. ‘Find My Car’ locates your car in a multi-storey car park, which is a not only a bonus for visitors to the city but also for those who forget where they’ve parked. The ‘Parking Meter Countdown’ notifies users with an alarm when they have 30 minutes left on their meter, and is particularly useful for on street parking.
City of Perth Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi says, "The new website, iPhone and Android parking app can offer alternative media sources for tech-savvy people wanting instant updates on parking availability with City of Perth Parking.
"It should help to avoid the frustration that can sometimes come with accessing a parking space by allowing commuters and visitors the ability to plan ahead.
"It will also be possible for customers to save money by being aware of the various pricing scales at different car parks, including the many different rates available."
