Regional and remote area economic training

The aim of the Regional and Remote Area Economic Development Training Program (RRATP) is to provide a positive impact through the sharing of economic development expertise for remote and regional communities of Australia.

The RRATP normally consists of 3 sessions delivered over approximately 2.5 days but can be varied to a 1 day workshop focusing on the economic development tool box and it’s application to the full program.

The program is delivered in an informal, flexible manner and is designed to be enjoyable and rewarding.

Economic Development Australia (EDA) members deliver the program pro bono; recipient regions cover travel costs, accommodation and meals.
As part of the program, a proposed economic development toolbox is delivered and is the key to the facilitated workshop and discussion.

The proposed model addresses Policies/Strategies, Consultation, Research, Projects and Engagement, and demonstrates the integration of these components.

Elected members, managers and officers of The West Tamar Council praised the content and delivery of a recently attended RRATP workshop.

A spokesman for the council said “We were able to review and challenge our perceptions of the economic value of our region, our drivers and potential areas for economic growth which will enable us to deliver better outcomes in the future and ensures that decision makers are well informed to continue to encourage and forecast sustainable growth and prosperity.”
