LGAQ and MIWROC formalise partnership

The Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday Region of Councils (MIWROC) have formalised their relationship with the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) through the signing of a protocol document at the recent LGAQ conference.

MIWROC representatives, including Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor, Jennifer Whitney, Mackay Regional Council Mayor, Deirdre Comerford and Isaac Regional Council Mayor, Anne Baker took part in the signing with LGAQ’s CEO Greg Hallam and newly elected president, Margaret de Wit.
Mayor Whitney said that the Protocol would reinforce the relationship between the LGAQ and MIWROC.

“The aim is to fortify the partnerships between the parties as a collective voice of local government in the Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions,” Mayor Whitney said.

“Our region is one of the fastest growing economies in Queensland and by strengthening our partnerships and having a collaborative focus on the needs of the region, we will move forward with confidence.”

“There are many instances where having the support of the LGAQ makes all the difference when it comes to lobbying the State Government. We will also have a greater understanding of the impacts of growth in our region and the relevant planning that is required to take us into the future,” said Mayor Whitney.
