Reflections: Learning, Leading and Living Education and Care

Campbelltown City Council will hold its second biennial, one-day Education and Care Services conference in March 2014.

The 2012 event boasted more than 160 delegates and helped sector professionals understand and embrace changes regarding the implementation of the National Quality Framework.

Educators of young children understand that critical reflection of their practice is vital, and this year, Education and Care Service educators are invited to join to consider, engage and take action.

Learning, Leading and Livingdelegates will be encouraged to consider how these three key principles weave together throughout their day, and how they influence planning, interactions and daily practice.

Delegates will reflect on their learning, their leadership and how they live Education and Care.

Renowned international key note speaker, Terry Hawkins, will offer strategies to take action now, reflecting on why and how child care professionals learn and lead and inspiring delegates to continually work towards improved Education and Care.

Terry will be joined by a host of workshop presenters who will offer perspectives on a number of pedagogical practices to intrigue and inspire delegates. Inspirational former Paralympian Paul Nunnari, who recently gained national recognition as grand finalist ‘The Other Superman’ on Channel Nine’s Australia’s Got Talent, will close the conference with his personal stories of triumph against the odds.

The conference will also include an off-site ‘hands on’ workshop excursion, where participants will travel by bus to the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living, and engage in activities that support sustainable practices within their services. This session is limited to only 38 participants (first in, best dressed).

The conference website will include details of all the speakers, as well as booking forms and a full program – www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au/EducationandCareServicesBiennialConference

The conference will be held on Saturday March 8 at Campbelltown Arts Centre. Delegates can take advantage of a discounted early bird registration fee of just $199 if they book and pay by 31 December 2013, or $219 for 2014 bookings.
