Trails encourage visitors to experience Central NSW

Central New South Wales is the new frontier of tourism in Australia with a campaign launched to help people self-discover the region and its staggering 1130 natural and culturally significant sites.

Launched by Central NSW Tourism, the ‘While you’re here’ campaign is the first step in establishing the historic and beautiful inland area as a must-do adventure for every Australian. At the touch of a button travellers can now access free Discovery Trails which link tourism attractions across 11 council boundaries with great travel deals.

This is the first time Central NSW has offered travel information and themed trails linking major tourism hubs such as Bathurst, Orange, Cowra, Forbes, Parkes and Mudgee, as well as smaller, historic villages.

Executive Officer of Central NSW Tourism, Lucy White, said the Discovery Trails would give independent travellers confidence to explore Central NSW.
“The area offers unforgettable journeys through historic mining villages, over rich agricultural river flats, along travelling stock reserves and through untouched
National Parks.

“A little bit more goes a long way – if our guests spend an extra $15pp a day, it will boost the economy by a staggering $88 million.”

After months of research and development, six new Discovery Trails offer themed holiday planners titled ‘Gold’, ‘Art’, ‘Nature’, ‘Country Folk’, ‘Technology’ and ‘Food and Wine’. They contain varied routes from half-day to five-day adventures with places to stay, events, interesting facts and booking information.

The Parkes Visitor Information Centre launched the Discovery Trails with participating local tourism operators in October, unveiling a new dedicated website, downloadable brochures, a membership program, bookable travel deals, advertising, promotions and social media.

Parkes experiences featured in the trails include ‘The Dish’, the Henry Parkes Centre museums, Hotel Gracelands, Twisted River Wines, Dish Café, Peak Hill Country Crafts, Kadina B&B, Station Motel and the Old Parkes Convent.
