2014 Heart Foundation Local Government Awards*

The Heart Foundation Local Government Awards recognise and showcase Councils who are working to improve heart health through building a sense of community, encouraging people to be physically active, be smoke-free and make healthy food choices. 

In 2013, the Councils awarded nationally for best practice in creating a healthy community were:

Category: Councils with populations of 15,000 or less
National Winner – Mid Murray Council (SA)
National Highly Commended – Northern Grampians Shire Council (VIC)

Category: Councils with populations greater than 15,000
Joint National Winner – Adelaide City Council (SA)
Joint National Winner – Hume City Council (VIC)

State Winners and National finalists:

  • Gunnedah Shire Council – NSW
  • Victoria Daly Shire Council – NT
  • Murweh Shire Council – QLD
  • Shire of Manjimup – WA
  • Penrith City Council – NSW
  • City of Darwin – NT
  • Bundaberg Regional Council – QLD
  • City of Wanneroo – WA.

Councils working hard to create a healthy community are invited to submit an entry for the 2014 Heart Foundation Local Government Awards.
Exciting prizes include cash awards, commemorative frames and profiling of the council’s efforts through promotional material, presentation events and local media.
