Whitsunday Regional Council has resolved to upgrade its internet services across the region allowing the community and council staff better access to the World Wide Web.
Mayor Jennifer Whitney said the council will upgrade their internet services to allow public Wi-Fi access at the airport and increased internet speeds at our public libraries.
“Before June school holidays, members of the public will be able to access Wi-Fi at the Whitsunday Coast Airport, making their travelling experience through our airport more enjoyable,” Mayor Whitney said.
“This upgrade will also vastly increase the internet speed at our libraries in Cannonvale, Proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville.
“The upgrade also allows for the ability in the future for public Wi-Fi access in our customer service centres throughout the Whitsunday region,”
The service upgrade will also improve internet speeds for council staff at depots and quarries throughout the region.
“Council staff having faster internet access at our remote sites ultimately means Council will be able to service the people of the Whitsunday region more efficiently.
“This network upgrade is part of Council creating greater efficiencies across all our service delivery areas.”
