The Hills Shire Council in New South Wales has a new weapon in its arsenal to tackle dirty streets.
The Sweeper is a new state-of-the-art vehicle that is rolling through the streets of Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill, Kellyville, Crestwood, Box Hill, Oatlands and
North Rocks.
Leading the charge for a cleaner Shire is Mayor Dr Michelle Byrne.
“Currently we have to clean our public pathways, cycleway, footpaths and shopping areas either by hand with a broom, or by washing with a gurnee.
“The introduction of the Sweeper will allow for a faster, cleaner, better and less laborious way to undertake this work.”
The diesel powered unit sweeps from 1.6 to 2.2 meters wide removing all loose debris like papers, bottle, cans, cigarette butts, rocks and dust.
Set up as a scrubber, it lays down water and chemical, scrubs the footpaths with it’s 1320mm scrub head then mops up the dirty water with its squeegee system, leaving a clean dry footpath.
The machine filters the impurities out of the water, recycles the water, adds more chemicals, and continues to scrub the footpaths.
