Almost 80 million steps

Participants in this year’s Burdekin 10,000 Steps Community Challenge recorded almost 80 million steps.

Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro congratulated the participants for taking part in the six-week event.

“We had a fantastic response to the 10,000 Steps Challenge this year with 182 people signing up.

“Only 20 dropped out of the Challenge, so that is a great result and I thank the community for taking part.

“The winning team was Stirlo’s Steppers A, which recorded a total of 1,101,733 steps, which is based on the team’s average steps for the entire six-week challenge.

“The Ladies’ Challenge winner was Deb Harris from The Sole Mates, who recorded a massive total of 1,809,207 steps.

“The Mens’ Challenge winner was Ian McChesney-Clark from The Pace Makers, who tallied 1,050,215 for the six weeks.

“Congratulations to the Challenge winners who have won some fantastic prizes, but really, everyone who participated is a winner in my view.”

Each member of the winning team will receive a prize package valued at $139.

The Ladies’ Challenge and Mens’ Challenge winners each received a $240 prize pack.
