Tourism roundtable

Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM has participated in a round table discussion with the Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner, Stuart Ayres Minister Assisting the Premier on Western Sydney and stakeholders from the tourism industry across Western Sydney.

The meeting, to discuss a Western Sydney Tourism & Events Strategy, was organised by the Western Sydney Business Chamber and the Tourism and Transport Forum.

“The State Government is delivering $500,000 over two years to develop a Western Sydney Tourism & Events Strategy and Penrith Council will be instrumental in assisting with its development.”

Once developed, the strategy will provide a framework with key actions to guide tourism and events development and co-ordinate stakeholders in a common direction.

“The growth of attractions in Penrith and in particular our campaign ‘Penrith – The Adventure Capital’ is getting traction with the wider tourism community.

“I was pleased to attend the event and to highlight the progress we are making, working with our tourism operators to promote Penrith as an adventure destination.

“I took the opportunity to present the Deputy Premier with the latest tourism material promoting the great adventure activities in Penrith.
