Canberra’s 30-day spring festival Floriade has recorded its largest ever attendance numbers in the event’s 27-year history.
The festival attracted 481,854 visits, making up the biggest crowd since turnstiles were introduced in 1999.
Events held over the month featured gardening writer Indira Naidoo, The Living Room’s Barry Du Bois and Miguel Maestre, Wildlife Warrior Bindi Irwin and Australian singer- songwriter Bob Evans.
Other events included Floriade’s first ever Dogs Day Out, which raised more than $4,000 for charity partner RSPCA ACT, and Floriade’s Big Boot Camp, which saw former Canberra Raiders captain Alan Tongue put visitors through their paces.
Floriade’s second charity partner, The Independent Property Group Foundation, also raised more than $45,000 for Boundless Canberra and The Centenary Hospital for Women and Children with the popular My Cubby House Rocks project.
