The Shire of Augusta Margaret River has welcomed Margaret River Senior High School graduate Molly Ryan into the role of Community Development Trainee, a bursary position awarded to a local young person every 12 months.
As a part of the role Ms Ryan will work closely with Shire officers on a range of engagement, access and inclusion, and youth projects.
She will help coordinate meetings, host events, and organise camping trips and day trips.
Ms Ryan said that her involvement on her school Student Council and her role as Year 12 Head Girl steered her interest towards the year-long bursary role.
“I applied for the position as it offered a smooth transition from secondary schooling into the workforce.
“My leadership roles at school were very rewarding and I hope I can achieve great things for the youth in the wider community.
“My aspirations include hosting events orientated around the arts and physical activity as a way to keep young people physically and mentally healthy.”
This year’s Youth Advisory Council meetings will commence in February, and is open to people aged from 12–25 years.
