Acting CEO announced

Mark Searle, former CEO of the City of Marion, has been appointed as Acting CEO to the Local Government Association of South Australia (LGASA).

The vacancy occurred with the resignation of Wendy Campana, who has been appointed by the State Government as the first Commissioner for Kangaroo Island.

Mr Searle started with the LGASA on April 27 and will take over the helm after the LGASA Ordinary General Meeting on May 1.

LGASA President, Mayor David O’Loughlin, said Mr Searle’s experience in Local Government, including 15 years as CEO of Marion, made him a perfect choice to fill the interim position.

“We are currently finalising the recruitment process for the permanent CEO placement and while this could take a couple of months, Mark is a great choice for Acting CEO.

“His tremendous history in Local Government equips him very well for the interim position.

“The LGA is an important representative for all 68 SA Councils at the State and Federal levels, operating significant shared services, while providing leadership to the sector.

“I look forward to working with Mark as the Immediate Past President.”

Mayor O’Loughlin’s term as President of the LGASA ends on May 1.

He will be succeeded by Mid Murray Mayor Dave Burgess, who takes up the reins for the next two years.
