The New South Wales Local Government Excellence Awards were held on Thursday April 23 with over 300 attendees present to celebrate a night of professional recognition.
Local Government Professionals Australia NSW hosted the event with guests including the Hon. Paul Toole as well as the new Chief Executive from the Office of Local Government, Marcia Doheny and her colleagues, Steve Orr the Deputy Chief Executive and Corin Moffat the Manager of Innovation and Development.
The night also recognised LGMA members who had reached the milestone of over 50 years individual membership with the association, including a personal award presentation and recognition for Keith Davis, a member for 55 years.
NSW winners are now finalists in the running for the Australian Local Government Excellence Awards to be announced on May 1 at the LGMA National Congress in Darwin.
Broken Hill, who was the winner of Excellence in Leadership and Management, will be short-listed as a finalist in the Australian Local Government Excellence Awards under the category of Innovative Management Initiatives.
Lismore City Council, the winner of Partnership for Growth, will also attend the national awards in the Community Partnerships and Collaboration category.
The two NSW winners of the Next Gen Emerging Leader awards, Adama Kamara from Auburn City Council and Ben Ellison-Kubecka from Bankstown, will be vying for the Emerging Leader of the Year award.
Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW also undertook the Rural and Australasian Management Challenges this year and presented the winners with their awards at the dinner.
Winner of the Australasian Management Challenge in NSW, Marrickville Council, will go on to represent NSW in the final of the Australasian Management Challenge to be held in Melbourne on June 25 and 26 2015.
