Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO Governor of Western Australia has congratulated the City of Melville for receiving Australia’s highest business excellence award – The Australian Organisational Excellence Award Gold Award.

Governor Sanderson congratulated City of Melville Chief Executive Officer Dr. Shayne Silcox, the City of Melville and all staff involved for the recognition that comes with the prestigious award.

Managed by the Australian Organisational Excellence Foundation which sets its criteria against a set of internationally recognised standards, the City of Melville is the first Western Australian local government and only the third Western Australian organisation to have won the award.

Requiring participating organisations to undergo one of the most rigorous and unique evaluation processes in the country, the assessment tests how well business excellence principles are embedded and embraced across an organisation, as well as its commitment to innovative and sustainable performance, stakeholder value, quality and service, philanthropic ideals and ethical performance.

Receiving the award on behalf of the City of Melville, newly re-elected Mayor Russell Aubrey said the CEO, management and staff should be very proud of this achievement as a reflection of their shared commitment to business excellence and a dedicated focus on making the City a better place for the community.

“Achieving the Gold Award means the City of Melville is now recognised as one of the nation’s leading organisations for business excellence – an outstanding achievement,” said Mayor Aubrey.
