Good for her, great for us

In conjunction with the upcoming International Women’s Day, held globally on 8th March each year, Isaac Regional Council will host a series of events celebrating women’s achievements within the region.

Held as part of the broader Queensland Women’s Week (7-13 March), events on the agenda include a Ladies Brunch, a Ladies Night Out, and a Diversity through Drought brunch.

An International Women’s Day morning tea will act as a centerpiece of the week, inviting Queensland women to join millions of others throughout the world to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.

Isaac Regional Council CEO Rod Ferguson said the events are an opportunity for women of all ages to join together.

The theme for the inaugural week is ‘Good for her. Great for us. When women achieve, Queensland succeeds.’

“This theme celebrates women’s achievements and acknowledges that supporting and enabling women to take advantage of opportunities to succeed is good for everyone,” Mr Ferguson said.

“The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity, make the pledge at www.internationalwomensday.com/Theme.”

These events are supported through the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services Community Drought Support Packages.
