Management champions

LG Professionals Australia has announced the regional winners of the Australasian Management Challenge.

The Australasian Management Challenge is a forum for current and emerging local government leaders in Australia and New Zealand.
The competition aims to build leadership skills by having teams work through common issues faced by organisations.

The state-based round of the challenge was held in March; winners will now progress to the Australasian Challenge.

Prior to the regional challenge, teams undertook a pre-challenge task to develop strategies for the regional component of the program.

The regional Challenge Days were held in March in each capital city and in some regional centres. On the day, each team undertook tasks that typify management in the local government environment and developed individual and team competencies.

The program is delivered collaboratively by the LG Professionals Australia National Office and their Federation partners across Australia, as well as the New Zealand Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM).

This year’s regional winners are:

  • NSW – Fairfield City Council
  • NT – City of Darwin
  • NZ – Dunedin City Council
  • QLD – Sunshine Coast council
  • SA – City of Salisbury
  • TAS – Burnie City Council
  • VIC – City of Greater Bendigo
  • WA – City of Joondalup.

The Australasian Challenge will be held in June.
