Get ABR Explorer and understand businesses in your area

ABR Explorer is a free online reporting and analytical tool that gives authorised government agencies easy access to all Australian Business Number (ABN) information on the Australian Business Register (ABR).

ABR Explorer allows government agencies to ask questions of the ABR; producing tables, graphs, or plotting businesses on a map, or to export the results of their analysis into a range of formats to use in other software. It also offers access to the underlying ABN records.

Gone are the days when you had to download bulk ABR data and use specialised information technology staff and toolsets to analyse the information. ABR Explorer will give your agency instant access to details of more than seven million Australian businesses registered with an ABN. This enables you to make informed policy and service delivery decisions, better understand your client base and identify businesses in your local area. For the businesses you are interested in you can see such business information as their ABN, business structure, GST registration status, industry type, contact information, associate details and business addresses – including geocoding information.

The integrated mapping function, which is directly linked to NationalMap.gov.au, is a key feature of ABR Explorer. This function allows you to not only see where businesses are located on a map, but to overlay the ABR information with a range of other government data including Australian Bureau of Statistics information.

ABR Explorer can be used for many different purposes such as planning and economic development, disaster management, community consultation and engagement, issuing licences and registrations, grant eligibility and regulatory compliance and enforcement.

To gain access and use of ABR Explorer visit abr.gov.au, email us at abrenquiries@abr.gov.au or call 1300 139 025 and make it work for you. ABR Explorer is free for your agency.
