Ahead of the 2016 Census tomorrow night, Central West Libraries in regional New South Wales is reminding local residents that they can complete the survey online at libraries.
“Branches at Orange, Forbes, Blayney and Cowra have Wi-Fi available so you may bring your own devices and use the Census login code to add your information to the form,” said Technical Services Librarian, Ros Dorsman.
“We have had some people come into the Library concerned that they had not yet received either their login code or a paper copy. The ABS advises that while August 9 is Census night, people may fill in and send in forms within two weeks.”
Ms Dorsman said the Census data is important for Council and library services.
“Libraries use the data collected from the Census as background to plan their services and also to support applications for funding. The statistics are an important part of our information resources.”
The 2016 Census may be completed using a smartphone, tablet or computer. The Australian Bureau of Statistics expects 16 million people to complete the survey online.
