A new community volunteer program
Ku-ring-gai Council is helping set up a local ‘Timebanking’ volunteering network and in partnership with NSW Volunteering is hosting a free information session for interested members.
Timebanking is a community program that allows the voluntary exchange of services between members of a local Timebanking group. Members earn time credits for sharing their time and skills to help other members, and then trade these credits to receive services from any other member that are useful and valuable to them.
The idea behind Timebanking is that everyone has something to give as well as skills and knowledge that they share. Ku-ring-gai will have its own webpage where members can register offers and requests, and can access the offers, or provide the services on this list.
The talk will be followed by a delicious lunch where participants can start getting to know each other and start networking.
Currently there are 70 communities and over 500 organisations participating in the Timebanking program across Australia. Learn more about timebanking at www.timebanking.com.au
