Crab Fest sets sights on tourism award

Mandurah’s signature annual event, the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest, is competing for the 2016 Perth Airport Western Australian Tourism Awards, hosted by the Tourism Council of WA.

The Mandurah Crab Fest, Western Australia’s biggest free regional event, will vie for the top prize against three other strong finalists in the Major Festivals and Events category.

The awards will be announced at a gala dinner at Crown Perth on November 12.

This year marked the Crab Fest’s 18th year of delighting local, national and international visitors with an impressive program, with more than 120,000 people enjoying the 2016 event, which was presented by Live Lighter.

The Mandurah Crab Fest was a finalist in the awards in 2011, with this year’s submission process including an interview and site visit.
Mayor Marina Vergone said she was extremely proud of the Mandurah Crab Fest for making it into finalist position.

“The Mandurah Crab Fest is embraced and loved by our local businesses, community and beyond, and this finalist status is something we can all be proud of,” said the Mayor.

“From the behind-the-scenes event preparations to all the hard work that went into the award submission process, our staff and community partners put their heart and soul into making this event a huge success.

“The calibre of the Crab Fest has gone from strength to strength over the years and I’m happy to see it being recognised in this way.
“Congratulations to all involved and let’s see Mandurah come home with the top prize.”
