Baw Baw Shire Council’s (Vic) Strategic Planner, Miriam Turner, has been awarded the Maddocks Young Planner of the Year Award, ahead of a large pool of candidates from a range of rural and metropolitan Councils.
Miriam won the award for her contribution and commitment to a number of Strategic Planning initiatives over the last 12 months, in particular her work on Amendment C89 and the Rural Land Use Review.
Having commenced with Baw Baw Shire Council in 2009, Miriam initially worked in the Planning Administration Team while she studied her Post Graduate Degree in Planning and Environment, before commencing as a Strategic Planner in 2015.
Baw Baw Shire Council’s Director Planning and Economic Development Matthew Cripps said it was a proud moment to see one of Council’s young planners receive such a great accolade for their work and dedication to the Baw Baw community.
“Miriam has worked hard to build her career in the Strategic Planning Team and this award goes to show that her dedication has paid off,” said Mr. Cripps.
“The Maddocks Young Planner of the Year award consists of a number of criteria that the candidate must address in order to be eligible, including; an assessment of the candidates technical planning skills, oral and written communication skills and understanding of practice; the type of work the candidate has undertaken; extracurricular activities the candidate has undertaken; examples of work produced by the candidate; and referees statements.”
