Iconic facelift for mobile library

Featuring iconic images of the Snowy Mountains, the Snowy Monaro Regional Council mobile library has a received a much needed facelift.

The new look mobile library was unveiled recently in Nimmitabel.
Administrator Dean Lynch, Director of Corporate and Community Services Peter Cannizzaro, and Library Manager Pam Veiss joined community members to welcome the mobile library’s fresh design.

Images of a settler’s hut, the Dalgety Bridge (crossing the Snowy River) and an echidna walking through the snowy alpine peaks form part of the new design. The idea for the truck’s design came from mobile library driver, Anthony Coxon. The wrap concept has been a year in the making with Council fortunate to use the images of local photographer Charles Davis.

Administrator Lynch welcomed the new look, forecasting an increase in the number of mobile library users.

“Our community is very proud of the service the mobile library provides. The new look enhances this valuable community asset and really makes it appealing,” Administrator Lynch said.

“The library staff deserve a massive congratulations for the work in getting the design together. It looks incredible.”

The mobile library has serviced the region since 1963. It has 1600 members, representing 22 percent of the total library memberships. The mobile library holds more than 6000 items and had 15,000 loans in the last financial year.
