Marketing hits the road

The District Council of Cleve in South Australia has utilised a simple but effective marketing strategy to get the name of the region out on the road.

Council’s Section 41 Committee, Cleve Districts Tourism & Development Group (CDTDG), recently completed a tourism and marketing project “Putting the Cleve District on the Map”.

CDTDG’s purpose is to seek out and develop social, cultural, tourism, environmental and economic opportunities for the Cleve district.
The recent marketing project put banners on the rear of the trucks of a local transport company, Quinn Transport.

The idea stemmed from CDTDG members observing a similar form of marketing in other regions.

As Quinn Transport frequently travels to and from Adelaide and other regional centres, the owner allowed CDTDG to display photos and tourism information on the back of four of his trucks.

The photographs were sourced from CDTDG members’ personal collections, as well as from Robert Lang Photography’s professional footage.

The CDTDG determined what photos to use and provided the tourism information.

Four images that captured the district’s salient features and activities were selected, including walking the dog along Redbanks, Turnbull’s and Arno Bay beaches, parking the RV or campervan at Yeldulknie Weir, camping out in the bush at Carappee Hill Conservation Park, and fishing for Snapper and King George Whiting in the pristine waters off Arno Bay.

Some of the trucks and their photos have now been spotted by locals while out and about within South Australia.

The Council would like to send a big thank to the CDTDG for their commitment to developing and showcasing the district.
