Work safe health forum

Hinchinbrook Shire Council, Queensland, will use a public forum to spread its message on health, wellbeing, safe work practices and injury prevention hoping to generate awareness for safe practices and strategies which can be implemented in work places, at home and in the community.

Mayor Ramon Jayo said that the forum was an opportunity for the community to come together to recognise the importance of working safely and staying in good health.

“No matter where you work, or what you do, there is nothing more important than getting home safely.”

Council will host the community event for employers and employees, small businesses and sole operators.

Guest Speakers include Footy Legend and Queensland Safety Ambassador Shane Webcke.

Chief Executive Officer, Alan Rayment, said, “Safety plays a huge part in Council’s everyday operations as it does for all businesses.

“Through the recognition of this, staff developed the Work Safe Health Forum which we hope will not only bring the community together but also inspire community leaders to keep safety front of mind.
Council facilities will close for several hours on the day with the majority of staff attending the forum for training.
