The Muchea Industrial Park in the Shire of Chittering is set to become one of Western Australia’s largest and key industrial sites.
The site’s 1,150ha of land make it one of the largest greenfield industrial hubs in the state.
With funds from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund, the Shire has announced the project with the launch of the Muchea Industrial Park Investment Prospectus.
The Hon Christian Porter, Federal Member for Pearce, attended the launch held at Nesci Winery Estate in Lower Chittering where he officially presented the Prospectus.
Shire President, Gordon Houston, said the significance of this development could not be understated, as it would create major investment opportunities for freight and logistic operators, importers, exporters and manufactures.
“The Park will have enviable access, as well as large land availability and affordability compared to other industrial sites.”
The Great Northern Highway and the new North Link Tonkin Highway Freeway extension at Muchea, traverse the large industrial site providing key access for heavy vehicles.
A heavy vehicle breakdown assembly area is provided at the end of the NorthLink and Great Northern Highway intersection.
Further major highway upgrades of approximately $300 million are also scheduled including the Bindoon Bypass, which will result in triple road trains of up to 53m accessing the Muchea Industrial Park, in the future.
Harvis Property Group is investing $48 million to develop industrial land known as ‘Northern Gateway’ and a proposal for a $15 million truck stop at the site by BP Australia is currently under consideration by the Wheatbelt Joint Development Assessment Panel which is due to be built by mid-2019.
The site already hosts key tenants including Ingham’s Chicken Farms, Muchea Livestock Sale Facility, Australian Modular Systems and Road Trains Australia.
