Cultures from around the world

The crowds flocked to the celebration of cultures from around the world at Lockyer Valley’s Multicultural Festival.

The Laidley District State School was transformed into an international hub of cuisine, dance and activities for the annual Lockyer Valley Multicultural Festival, on 26 May.

Crowds once again embraced the event, which was a partnership between Lockyer Valley Regional Council, the Queensland Government, Spirit of the Valley Events Inc. and the Lockyer Multicultural Association Incorporated.

The free community event featured Aboriginal, Kurdish and African dance, hula hooping and Islander performances.

Multicultural Councillor, Michael Hagan, said both residents and visitors fully embraced the experience.

“It was wonderful to see so many participate in this special day that celebrated cultural diversity and promoted cohesion in our beautiful region.

“Around 1000 people came to enjoy the event, which was a great outcome and we thank the community for their support.”
