Bellbird Community Hall has received a much needed upgrade and is more accessible to everyone utilising this important community asset.
Cessnock City Council carried out the works after receiving funding of more than $30,000 under the New South Wales (NSW) Government’s Community Building Partnership program and a generous contribution from Ability Links NSW of $30,000.
Council also contributed funding to the project which enabled the important works to be undertaken focusing on improving access to the hall.
The project involved the construction of an accessible ramp, construction of an accessible toilet and upgrades to the existing toilet facilities.
Mayor, Bob Pynsent, said it was fantastic to see a collaborative project deliver a great outcome for the community.
“This joint project is a demonstration of how we can all work together to achieve positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes for our community.
“There are a number of community groups that use the hall and a variety of activities that take place there; all of these contributing to the health and wellbeing of our residents.
“Council is committed to seeing community facilities with improved access so everyone in our community can join and be part of groups.”
