One million containers

Maranoa Regional Council, Queensland, has received a remarkable one million eligible containers at its Drop-Off points since commencing the Container Refund Scheme on Saturday, 23 February 2019.

Since starting the Container Refund Scheme four months ago, the program has encouraged residents to recycle their containers to receive a refund.

Councillor Geoff McMullen, said the Maranoa community had done an excellent job by participating in the scheme, container by container.
“With one million containers received, $100,000 dollars has gone back to Maranoa residents.

“This is a huge accomplishment for the community and Council is looking forward to Maranoa residents recycling another million eligible containers.

“The Container Refund Scheme has now collected over 561,257,707 containers in Queensland since starting in November 2018.”
