Ararat Rural City, Victoria, in collaboration with the Grampians Winemakers Inc. and Grampians Tourism has launched the Made the Grampians Way website, made possible with support and funding from the Victorian Government’s Stronger Regional Communities Program.

Council Chief Executive Officer, Dr Tim Harrison, said, “It’s great to have worked with these groups to create a website that showcases our region.

“People near and far will be able to experience the region virtually and try our undiscovered wines.”

The Made the Grampians Way site was created to support local winemakers and to encourage a quicker return of tourism to the region as restrictions ease further in Victoria.

Chairman of Grampians Winemakers Inc., Damian Sheehan, said, “The collaboration from local winemakers and groups is resulting in a great platform to support our region through COVID-19 and bringing us more into the digital space.”

The site features almost 20 wineries, who collaborated with Council to ensure a platform was created to include all the region’s growers.

Ranging from the boutique and small to the largest and most established, such as Bests and Seppelts Great Western.

“Programs such as these show the importance of local government. We were able to collaborate on a personal level and listen to individuals, which is very important through challenging times.”
