Murrumbidgee Trails

Leeton, Lockhart, Murrumbidgee and Narrandera Councils, New South Wales, have joined forces to attract more visitors to the Riverina.

Using the premise – travellers do not see Council borders, they visit a region and want to know what they can see and do there – neighbouring councils along the Murrumbidgee River have combined resources to offer visitors a more complete holiday package.

The Murrumbidgee Trails campaign is an example of four councils working co-operatively for the economic benefit of the region.

The marketing campaign will entice visitors to explore the region through a marketing guide, touring trails, dedicated website, and social platforms.

They will discover the local people, local businesses, local attractions, local places to stay, things to see and do and the places locals dine.

The initiative will help to disperse overnight visitors across the region to nearby towns and villages for a complete visitor experience; to increase the number of overnight visitors, visitor spend and length of stay throughout the year in the region and to increase the exposure of this area of regional New South Wales.

In the future, the Murrumbidgee Trails guides could expand to include other Local Government Areas along the Murrumbidgee River.

Travellers will be able to explore the region with the help of the new Murrumbidgee Trails Destination Guide to be launched in mid-November in time for summer holiday makers and ready for the eventual easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions.
