Bike hire has returned to the Barossa Valley, South Australia, with the exciting addition of electric bikes to make the journey safe, easy and fun.
The Barossa Council’s Manager Tourism Services said electric bikes have become a popular way for visitors and locals to explore the region, because they cater for a wide range of ages and cycling abilities.
“Throughout summer we’ve seen a big appetite for electric bikes, and 40km of sealed bike path along The Barossa Trail makes this very accessible for all levels of fitness.
“This is a great opportunity for us to promote the Barossa as a cycle-friendly destination,
and it’s the perfect way to explore our food and wine attractions – even if you’re a Barossa local.”
Barossa Visitor Centre has teamed up with local provider Barossa Bike Hire to provide a one-stop service operating out of Barossa Cycle Hub, which is co-located with the visitor centre in Murray Street, Tanunda.
A selection of standard hybrid bikes is also available for hire at daily rates, with complementary access to showers, toilets, bike maintenance station, drinking fountain, picnic tables, shelter and regional cycle and tourism information.
Mayor Bim Lange, a frequent cyclist on The Barossa Trail, said it was great to see bike hire available at the Barossa Visitor Centre for the first time since COVID-19 restrictions came into effect.
“I encourage anyone who hasn’t tried an electric bike to give it a go – it gives you a completely different perspective of the beautiful Barossa landscape we sometimes take for granted.”
