Culture, not as we know it*

The importance of workplace culture has been a trend of conversation for people and culture managers around the world, long before the pandemic forced us to rethink how we work.

With the prevalence of flexible work, the topic of culture has been pushed forward not just in focus, but in priority. The question has switched from ‘what does a positive workplace culture look like?’ to ‘how can we adapt our culture to include hybrid work?’

This will be the focus of this year’s Public Sector Conference at the AHRI Convention, TRANSFORM 2021. As workplaces become ever-more hybrid, where does culture sit? How can we avoid siloes of culture and help engage all employees, regardless of their location?

This year’s keynote presentation at the Conference will be from Ita Buttrose AC OBE, Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Ita will explore the challenges the pandemic has brought to Public Service leaders, as employees lose the face-to-face interactions that made workplace culture so important in the past, and how we can shape ethical workplaces to ensure employees are treated correctly, remain engaged, and contribute to a healthy and positive departmental culture.

TRANSFORM 2021 is a hybrid event, held in Melbourne on 11-13 August. You can discover what’s on the agenda at the Public Sector Conference at ahri.com.au/convention.
