In the pink in the Lockyer

Staff at Lockyer Valley Regional Council have once again throw their support behind “Pinktober” – ramping up internal fundraising efforts in light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Staff were sporting pink throughout the month of October and donating a gold coin each time they did so to support efforts to combat the impacts of the insidious disease.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said all funds raised would support a worthy cause.

“All funds raised will be forwarded directly to the Ipswich Hospital Foundation, to help aid in making a tangible difference right here in the Lockyer Valley.

“Access to quality health services is something we as a Council are passionate about advocating for our region.

“Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women outside of non-melanoma skin cancer and can affect men too.

“While survival rates continue to improve, I would certainly encourage residents to take the time this month to find out what you need to know about breast-health awareness and share this important information with your family, friends and colleagues,” Mayor Milligan said.
