Keeping regional, rural and remote councils connected

The Regional Tech Hub is working to help councils across Australia to help them get connected and stay connected.

Working with rural, regional and remote councils the RTH is an independent and free source of information on the choice of digital technologies, solutions for equipment, set-up, and installation.

They also have a proactive emphasis on building skills, confidence, and literacy when using technology.

The RTH collaborates with councils to assist their communities to understand all the connectivity options available to them.

This includes everything from educating council staff, speaking with chambers of commerce to attending community events.

There are many ways the RTH assists LGA’s with their unique connectivity needs.

They can provide resources, connectivity reports, bespoke presentations and speak to any suitable group functions the council may be facilitating.

The RTH was established in response to the Regional Telecommunications Review’s findings and is made possible through the Australian Government’s Stronger Regional Digital Connectivity funding package.

They provide councils with a connectivity report in the form of an email outlining the connectivity types available to the council at it’s specific location, with tips on how to get connected and stay connected. The Connectivity Report process can also help with: addressing issues including addresses that are incorrectly mapped, missing or have more than one residence on a property; Checking to see if you have line of sight to a nbn® Fixed Wireless tower; Checking all broadband options, including nbn®, mobile broadband, satellite, ADSL and Wireless Internet Providers (WISPs) and matching a connection to your needs and wants.
