With the support of all the major housing industry associations, SEDA’s Energy Smart Homes Policy has come to be recognised as an essential tool for encouraging NSW Councils to ensure new residential buildings and renovations maximise basic energy efficient principles.
The Energy Smart Homes Program is designed to assist NSW Councils to adopt and implement a model energy efficient residential housing policy. The Program provides reliable and consistent energy rating tools and minimum energy performance standards for new homes as well as alterations and additions.
Once a Council commits to the Program by signing a Memorandum of Understanding, the Energy Smart Homes team ensures the Council receives assistance and advice in adopting and implementing the program.
To celebrate the ongoing success of the Homes Program, SEDA is offering a special offer on its respected Training Package. For a limited time, NSW Councils can access the Energy Smart Homes Training Package for $1,500 (plus GST)#.
Normally priced $4,000, that’s a saving of $2,500!
The Training Package includes both Council Staff Training and an Industry Forum. Councils can save even more by combining their Training and Industry Forums with neighbouring Councils (maximum three Councils), receiving the Training Package for $1,000 (plus GST) per Council#.
Training sessions can be scheduled for next year, however SEDA points out that Councils must book and pay before 31 December 2001 to take advantage of this special offer.
What does the Training Package include?
- Valuable, practical training for all planning, development assessment, and customer service officers on the implementation of an energy efficient housing policy.
- An Industry Forum to communicate the Policy requirements to the local building industry and other community members.
These forums have proved a very effective means of involving local stakeholders in the Energy Smart Homes Program, and stimulating industry support for Councils’ policy adoption.
