Striking new clubhouse for St Ives

St Ives Football Club’s next soccer season is sure to be a standout after the launch of their brand new clubhouse at Warrimoo Oval, St Ives Chase.

Ku-ring-gai Mayor Elaine Malicki said she was delighted that Council was able to deliver such a striking new facility that will benefit over 1,000 soccer players.

“The new clubhouse is arguably the most attractive public building in Ku-ring-gai – it really is something to be seen.

“It features a new kitchen, canteen, meeting room, storage area, barbecue, landscaping, accessible path, unisex toilets and an upgraded car park.

“The $600,000 project also included an innovative roof system made from a material that acts as the ceiling, roof and insulation all in one integrated part.

“This cheap and effective solution was quick and easy to install, reduced the amount of construction waste and helped us to deliver the project ahead of schedule.Councillor Malicki said the project was a true community partnership.

“Ku-ring-gai Council contributed over $400,000 and managed the project. We also received a $150,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership.

“St Ives Football Club kicked in an extra $10,000 to upgrade the kitchen and will be contributing another $30,000 to $40,000 for the fit-out including shelving, a trophy cabinet and a large screen television to be used as a coaching tool and for social movie nights.

“The club also generously put in $30,000 to upgrade their former clubhouse, which will be the new home of the St Ives Girl Guides.

“This paves the way for construction to begin next year of the new St Ives Village Green youth precinct, which will include a skate and bike park, youth performance space, basketball half court and expanded children’s playground. This will be at the site of the old St Ives Girl Guides and Scout Halls, which will be demolished.”

St Ives Football Club President, Penny Howell, said the club was extremely grateful to Ku-ring-gai Council.

“We are really excited about the opportunities it will provide for us in the coming years.”
