Green purchasing is an issue of growing concern for Local Government. It is important that Councils wanting to meet this new challenge are provided with resources, information and tools to assist them in developing green purchasing programs. The Buying Green 2003 Conference and Expo – Purchasing for a Sustainable Future is the first national event that seeks to promote the purchase of recycled and environmentally friendly products.
Hosted by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), this conference will showcase best practice Australian green purchasing, and will pave the way for the future expansion of green purchasing programs.
To be staged on 1 and 2 May 2003 at the Carlton Crest Hotel in Melbourne, this a great opportunity for Local Governments throughout Australia to expand their knowledge and learn from the experiences of other Councils in developing and implementing green purchasing policies and programs. The conference will feature a range of speakers with expertise in developing and implementing green purchasing programs; purchasing environmentally preferred products; and manufacturing and supplying green products.
There will also be workshops, an Expo, equipment demonstrations, bus tours, trade displays and social events for delegates.
