General information and guidelines for the 1998 National Awards for Innovation in Local Government are now available online. The 1998 Awards’ Web site tells you what categories are available, it outlines some of the many reasons you should enter and it explains the criteria by which your entry will be judged.
There is also an electronic copy of the 1998 Awards’ entry form for you to download. The Awards on the Web is part of the National Office of Local Government’s (NOLG) commitment to establishing itself as a leading online resource area for information on local government issues.
The NOLG Website aims to raise awareness of important local government issues, to publicise examples of innovation and best practice, and to promote the efficient exchange of information between councils, local government associations, other spheres of government, business and the community.
In line with these objectives, the NOLG Home Page provides links to other Commonwealth Departments through its association with the Department of Transport and Regional Development, and to Local Government organisations and related private industry through its links with the Australian Local Government Information Network (ALGIN).
The Web site includes information on the Australian Model Code for Residential Development (better known as AMCORD), details of previous Innovation Awards and extracts from Benchmarking for Local Government – A Practical Guide.
