Building a tourism brand

Bathurst Regional Council has commissioned a tourism research project as part of the development of a brand identity for the Bathurst region.

Mayor of Bathurst Gary Rush said the project would help facilitate the development of a new brand identity for the region in New South Wales, which will help enhance its reputation as a tourism destination and continue to build a visitor economy.

“The project is an initiative identified in Council’s Destination Management Plan and is being supported by the Tourism Reference Group,” said the Mayor.

“The research team from MyTravelResearch.com is in Bathurst this week immersing themselves in all that our city has to offer.

“During their stay, they are meeting with various community members, running a small workshop to gain insight from locals who have hosted visitors in the last twelve months and to get a feel for what will make Bathurst a regional tourist hotspot.

“The project will target a broad cross section of the community in gathering research that is vital to gain a better understanding of what motivates our key audiences to visit Bathurst at present and what will maximise the appeal of the region to visitors in the future.

“The findings will provide insights and an overall direction in developing, adopting and implementing a recognised destination brand for the Bathurst Region.”

The tourism research project includes an online survey which community members are encouraged to complete.
