Douglas Shire Council and the Wet Tropics Management Authority (WTMA) have produced an interactive guide to the Queensland region’s Bloomfield Track.
The “Bloomfield Track Experience Guide” e-book explains the spectacular 33km journey from Cape Tribulation to Bloomfield Falls, located in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Daintree National Park.
The guide includes helpful commentary on the cultural connections, landscape, wildlife and stories that make the area unique.
Filled with breathtaking images of the Bloomfield Track and surrounds, the e-book is available for free download so locals and visitors can make the most of their experience.
Mayor Julia Leu said Traditional Owners were heavily involved in the production of the Bloomfield Track Experience Guide, which also details the Indigenous and European history of the area.
“It’s a beautifully-produced e-book filled with useful information and stunning images of the Bloomfield Track and surrounds,” said Mayor Leu.
“The e-book divides the Bloomfield Track into four sections that are colour-coded and feature animal symbols
to look out for.
“There’s also nine numbered stops and two points of interest where the e-book provides commentary which are signposted along the way.”
Mayor Leu said the project shone the spotlight on one of the Douglas Shire’s premier tourism experiences.
“This has been a fantastic collaboration between Council, WTMA and Jabalbina Aboriginal Corporation and we’re delighted Track users can now appreciate all that the area has to offer.”
