Councils across Australia are looking to streamline their tendering process with new electronic systems.
Gosford City Council has launched a new process for its tendering activities with the implementation of the online portal, TenderLink.
Council’s Acting Contract Management Coordinator, Danny Andrews said TenderLink will make a huge difference to the way goods and services are procured by council.
“As an online system, TenderLink is fully automated and will allow us to work smarter while also making it easier for suppliers to do business with council.
“Registered suppliers will now have the flexibility to download, view documentation and submit a tender electronically; streamlining the process to be more cost effective and efficient.
TenderLink allows registered suppliers to receive notifications on new opportunities, engage in forums, plus seek clarification and ask questions on
open tenders.
“Registration for the TenderLink website is fast and simple.
“We are encouraging all current and potential suppliers of goods and services to register their businesses now to make the most of upcoming tender opportunities,” Mr Andrews said.
All new tenders advertised by council will be offered through TenderLink, however older tenders will be available through the old system until their scheduled closing date.
While council encourages electronic lodgement, facilities will still be available for the submission of hard copy tenders.
Baw Baw shire council is also adopting TenderLink to streamline its tendering process.
Director of Corporate Services and Organisation Development Shane Cagney said the decision to use Tenderlink came about after a review of Council’s procurement processes identified tendering as an area where significant savings could be made.
“E-tendering as a procurement initiative, coupled with the core system upgrade and replacement of the current Contract Management System will modernise Council’s approach to procurement activities.
“E-tendering also allows potential suppliers to sign up to receive free email updates on relevant new tenders as they become available, and view the results of previously awarded tenders.”
