Tea Tree Gully Council has adopted an economic framework that focuses on support for small businesses and methods to attract new investment to the South Australian community.
Council Chief Executive Officer John Moyle said the economic development framework identifies the major influences on the local economy and what Council can do to help create investment, and support business and employment opportunities to benefit the community.
“The framework gives a high level roadmap of what needs to happen and what we need to do to achieve further economic growth.
“Our work in this area in recent years is already reaping rewards with investment and building activity gaining momentum, but there’s still work to be done if we are to reach our full economic potential.”
Other focus areas listed in the framework include making the city more attractive for investors and residents; maximising the use of the NBN; and tapping into the visitor economy.
There will be no additional staff costs to Council to deliver framework initiatives.
Polaris Business and Innovation Centre has already been appointed to provide small business advisory services on behalf of the Council from 1 July this year.
