New footbridge in bumper civil works package

A new foot bridge for Hutchison Creek is part of Douglas Shire’s Civil Works package.

Douglas Shire Council, Queensland, has committed $115,000 to replace the pedestrian bridge decking at Hutchinson Creek after residents raised concerns. Mayor Julia Leu said the new crossing would improve safety for school kids.

“Residents are concerned about school kids having nowhere to cross and this will revitalise a crossing that has been out of action for some time. “

That roadway is too narrow for children to be crossing so I have no doubt this will be a welcomed project for the people of Diwan.”

Council is also spending $3 million on the Noah Creek Bridge renewal, Diggers Bridge Replacement Project, Upper Daintree Rd culvert renewal and on the gravel re-sheet program.

“Council has locked in a strong collection of essential works that meets the needs of our residents,” Mayor Leu said. “

This $16.49 million capital works expenditure, which is the second highest this Council has delivered, has something for everyone.”
