Sensor network fights congestion

Wollondilly City Council’s Executive Director Ally Dench, Mayor Judith Hannan, Federal Member Angus Taylor MP and Council’s Smart Shire Innovation Agent Joanna Kraatz.

Western Sydney City Deal councils have received $700,000 for the Western Sydney Parkland Sensor Network project in round two of the Federal Government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs program.

The project aims to install a sensor network across the Western Parkland City to collect data that will be used in the reduction of congestion and the more efficient use of lighting and irrigation in public areas.

The project will build a cohesive framework to allow data sharing across the eight councils, which will also make it easier for customers to deal with multiple councils as the Parkland City grows into the future.

The eight local councils have also partnered with University of Wollongong, University of New South Wales and Sydney Water who have lent their support to the Sensor
