FunSearch.com.au is an Australia wide photo and video search engine that provides a single consolidated channel for destination promotion, particularly council activities, events, natural attractions and council assets, allowing them to be easily found across the country.
As a much needed national digital infrastructure platform, FunSearch.com.au offers free profiles for councils and all relevant visitor economy, leisure and recreation businesses.
The site allows people to search any location to find photos and videos related to all things fun in the area, including accommodation, events, experiences, activities, food, wine, parks and more.
Fun searchers can quickly connect directly with the local business or council for any additional details.
FunSearch Chief Executive Officer, Chris Gillard, said the company spent over two years researching the market and developing the system and found that consumers, travellers and locals all wanted a single destination for trip planning, weekend getaways or one-off activities.
“People want all their fun in one spot! No one wants to bounce from site to site while they road trip or before they take a holiday or on a weekend. It’s a long and arduous task to visit the many different sites and plan things – and you often miss the good stuff.
“We found the fun market fractured into lots of small and medium sites, often restricted to a location or a niche.
“FunSearch is an entirely new centralised channel to bring it all into one space, across Australia.”
While FunSearch is only newly launched, Gillard said the company already takes national and international enquiries from people searching for fun things to do and places to stay across Australia, and he said inclusion of all the council events, activities and parks and reserves on the national platform makes sense.
“If your council has a great free event, school holiday activities or anything fun – it makes sense to be there when the search for fun is on.
“We can help quickly set up your free FunSearch council account so you can begin to get found by those searching and trip planning across Australia.”
As an impact business, FunSearch hopes to help regional growth through smart destination marketing and plans that target return to work mums and under-employed young people in regions.
Gillard said FunSearch also exists to promote sustainable business models such as Ecotourism, Agritourism, Indigenous tourism and inclusive tourism operations while also championing good health and wellbeing; getting people off the couch and into nature.
FunSearch has a dedicated Roadtrips strategy which councils and local business can participate in.
